Grooming an Australian Shepherd

Maintenance
It is recommended to brush an Australian Shepherd twice a week and bathe them every 4 weeks to keep their coat healthy and well-groomed.
Brushing
The medium-length double coat requires regular brushing to prevent knots and matting and to remove loose hair. Use a soft slicker brush and a metal comb for the best results.
Clipping
The coat should not be clipped, as it naturally sheds twice a year. Regular brushing, light undercoat removal, and bathing help reduce shedding in the home. Only the paws, ears, and tail are lightly trimmed for a neat appearance.
Special attention
An Australian Shepherd is a very active dog, so it is important to take care of their joints and paw pads – especially on uneven surfaces. Using protective paw care like Artero Defender can be beneficial.
Recommended grooming visits
A professional bath once a month helps keep the coat healthy, remove loose hair, and reduce shedding in the home.
