Maintenance
It is recommended to brush the coat 2–3 times a week to control shedding and keep the coat healthy and well-groomed. Baths can be given every 4–6 weeks – always use products suitable for the dog's skin and coat type.
Brushing
Due to their double coat, Corgis need regular brushing to remove dead hair and prevent matting, especially during shedding seasons.
Clipping
It is not recommended to clip the coat, as it acts as natural protection against temperatures. However, it may be beneficial to trim excess hair in selected areas such as paws or around the anus for hygiene reasons.
Special attention
It is important to regularly check and clean the ears and monitor the skin for irritations. Additionally, the breed tends to gain weight, so it is recommended to focus on diet and ensure daily exercise.
Recommended grooming visits
Professional bath and thorough brushing every 4–6 weeks, along with nail, paw pad, and ear checks.
Brushes for Welsh Corgis
The Welsh Corgi has a double coat that requires frequent brushing to remove loose hair and undercoat.
During shedding seasons, it is recommended to increase brushing frequency and use tools like an undercoat rake.
Brushing also helps distribute the skin's natural oils and keeps the coat healthy and well-groomed.

Shampoo and conditioner for Welsh Corgis
It is recommended to bathe a Welsh Corgi every 4–6 weeks with a shampoo adapted to its skin and coat type.
It is important to thoroughly dry a Welsh Corgi after bathing – with special attention to the undercoat to avoid moisture issues.
Using conditioner can be beneficial as it makes subsequent brushing easier and helps keep the coat soft and well-groomed.

Clipping a Welsh Corgi
Clipping a Welsh Corgi is generally not recommended, as the breed's double coat serves as natural protection against both cold and heat. When the coat is clipped, it can disrupt its natural insulation and, in some cases, permanently alter the coat's texture.
However, it can be a good idea to trim lightly in selected areas for hygiene and comfort, e.g.:
• Around the paws to prevent dirt and matting
• Around the anus for better hygiene
• Possibly light thinning of excess coat

Nail clippers for Welsh Corgi
The Welsh Corgi is a medium-sized dog with relatively strong nails, which require a nail clipper of appropriate size to be cut safely and effectively.
A nail clipper for medium dogs provides good control and the necessary strength to trim nails in small, precise steps. This reduces the risk of hitting the quick and ensures a clean cut.
Choose a nail clipper suitable for medium breeds, preferably with sharp blades and a good grip, to ensure maximum control and safety during clipping.
