Brush your dog often
There is an old expression about cleaning that is typically only presented by slightly annoying types with a cleaning obsession: it goes: You don't have to clean, you have to keep clean.
Nevertheless, it can be directly transferred to the care of dogs with this coat type.
They need to be brushed a little all the time.
Mats easily form, and if you brush often, you'll catch them early.
If you are one of those who have given up on felt knots in your dog's coat, fear not. The good thing about dogs with this coat type is that they can be clipped and nothing will happen by simply cutting off the knots, unless you are going to a show.
How much should you actually brush?
No coat is exactly the same, and there will be variation between breeds, but typically for all of them, brushing is necessary at least 2-3 times a week if the coat is to be kept tangle-free. As you get to know your dog's coat, you will notice that it tangles more in some places - typically behind the ears or where the harness or collar is attached. Here you can brush a little more frequently.
A little tip: use a dog conditioner spray that can be applied to dry hair. This will make the fur easier to comb through.
Another tip is to buy a round collar that doesn't wear out and create knots in the fur.

Nothing can do wonders for your dog's coat like a bath. It is important that you buy dog shampoo, as the PH value should be different from that of humans. There is also no way around a good dog conditioner. The conditioner softens and makes it easier for you to comb the dog through.

Dog groomer
It can be difficult to find a good dog groomer who will cut your dog's hair according to your dog's preferences. It is therefore crucial that you take the time to find the right one. If your dog has a bad experience at first, it can be difficult to get them to come to the groomer.
It is expensive to have your dog clipped, but it is worth it, as you avoid tangles, get a dog that can suddenly see out of its eyes again, and there is not as much dirt in your dog's fur afterwards.
If you are diligent about brushing your dog, your groomer will also have an easier time cutting your dog's coat. In addition, your dog will also be more comfortable with having its fur touched if you are good at grooming it yourself.
