Irish Setter Care
Maintenance
It is recommended to brush the coat 2–3 times a week to prevent tangles and keep the coat clean and shiny. The dog can be bathed every 4–6 weeks with products developed for its coat type.
Brushing
Their long, silky coat requires frequent brushing to remove dirt and loose hair and to prevent the formation of knots – especially in areas where the coat is thicker.
Trimming
A full clipping is not necessary, but it can be beneficial to trim excess fur on paws, ears, and hindquarters to maintain good hygiene and a well-groomed appearance.
Special attention: It is important to regularly check and clean the ears and keep an eye on areas where the fur tangles more easily.
Recommended grooming visits
Professional bath and brushing every 4–6 weeks, ear checks, nail clipping, and coat maintenance in selected areas.
