Caring for a Long-haired Dachshund
Maintenance
It is recommended to brush the dog several times a week with a metal-pronged brush and a comb. Pay particular attention to the ears, chest, tail, and armpits, where mats easily form. Baths can be given every 3-4 weeks with a moisturizing shampoo that respects the coat's structure.
Brushing
Brush 2-3 times a week to prevent mats and remove loose hair. Using a grooming spray makes brushing easier, prevents wear and tear, and gives the coat a beautiful shine.
Clipping
It is not recommended to clip the coat short. It is sufficient to keep the coat free of mats and lightly trim the paws, tail, and ear contours with scissors to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
Special attention:
Pay attention to the ears and armpits, where the coat easily mats.
Recommended grooming visits
A visit every 4-6 weeks for bathing, thorough brushing, dematting, and general coat care is ideal.
